Thanks to the Hallbergs for this

Three spawning salmon

We left Juneau at 4 p.m. on Day 4
Heading south toward Tracy Arm
The weather cleared for the Tracy Arm trip
Island at the entrance of the fjord
Scenery got more spectacular as we traversed the 15 miles up the fjord
And the ice more frequent
The mountains were carved into by the glacier
And the fjord is as deep as the mountains are high
Mountains were ice capped and the turns frequent
These big ice "bergs" were to be avoided
You needed some warm clothes even in August here
No pleasure boats here
For us Tracy Arm was the highlight of the trip
Frequently we saw waterfalls
That's ice, not water
Base of the cliffs
Valley among the cliffs
Spectacular valley with snowcapped peaks in the background
Another valley
About 6 p.m. we could just see the Sawyer Glacier
Waterfall with chunks of ice
We could go no further than this due to ice -- Sawyer Glacer in background (bluish)
They sent out a small boat to check the ice (there's a sea lion on the closest chunk)
Closeup of scout boat
My favorite photo of Tracy Arm
Just to prove we were there
Day 5 was Skagway, arriving 7 a.m.
Which had two mini-cruise ships (right)
